“World Mental Health Day” program held at K.S Hegde Hospital

Mangaluru, October 17, 2024: The Department of Psychiatry, K.S Hegde Medical Academy, Deralakatte has observed “World Mental Health Day” on October 10th, 2024, in glass house, at K.S. Hegde Hospital Deralakatte. This day is significant in the history of Psychiatry as it throws emphasis on Mental Health on personals with Mental Disorders. The year’s theme for World Mental Health Day is “Mental Health in the Workplace”. Which Signifies the importance of Mental health & Positivity in the place we work in. on the occasion the Department has conducted series of competitions and activities since “Suicide Prevention Day” September 10th 2024 till “World Mental Health Day” October 10th 2024.

The Days programme consisted of street play on the theme “Mental Health in the Workplace” by the students of M.V. Shetty College, followed by the significance of the day by Dr. Sateesh Rao, Professor, and Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Jayaprakash Shetty, Incharge Dean,K.S. Hegde Medical Academy had presided over the function. The presence of Dr. Sumalatha  R. Shetty Medical Superintendent , K.S. Hegde Hospital. The dignitaries of the day released the year’s mental health calendar, with the best 12 posters, which will be selected from the Posteria Competition held during this one month. Prize distributed for the participants, who have participated in competitions Posteria, Epiphany, Photosaga and Poetic was handed over on this celebration.

The day’s programme ended with a vote of thanks by Dr, Shrinivasa Bhat U, Prof & HOD Department of Psychiatry, K.S Hegde Medical Academy.
