Byndoor, Oct 16, 2020: Two police personnel including the Byndoor Circle Inspector sustained injiries when the police jeep in which they were travelling overturned while chasing a Maruti Omni which was moving suspiciously at break-neck speed in the dead of the night. The incident occurred late night on Thursday at Ottinene.
The injured Circle Inspector Suresh G Naik and jeep driver Hemaraj have been admitted to a private hospital in Kundapur. Senior police officials including Udupi Additional SP Kumarachandra and Kundapur Circle Inspector Gopukrishna visited the hospital and enquired about the health of the injured.
Suresh Naik and Hemaraj were on patrolling duty at Byndoor when they noticed the Maruti Omni at around 1 am. As soon as those in the Omni saw the cops they tried to flee at great speed. The police jeep which chased the vehicle went out of control of the driver and overturned near Raghavendra Mutt. The jeep was completely mangled in the mishap and the driver and Circle Inspector were taken out of the vehicle after a great struggle and shifted to hospital at around 2.15 am.
