Dharmasthala, May 04, 2023: A total of 201 pairs entered wedlock during the 51st Mass Marriage ceremony held at the Amritvarshini Auditorium of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala during Godhuli Muhurtham on May 4, Wednesday.
Before the ceremony the brides and the grooms after offering prayers to Lord Manjunatha arrived in a procession to the Amritavarshini hall.
Mangalasutra was distributed by Dharmadhikari and Rajya Sabha Member Dr D Veerendra Heggade, his wife Hemavathi Heggade, D Surendra Kumar, Anitha Surendra Kumar, chief guest actor Darshan and others.
A total of 52 inter-caste pairs, 52 pairs belonging to scheduled caste, 9 pairs each belonging to Kuruba community and Veerashaivas, 11 belonging to scheduled tribes entered the wedlock. There were three pairs from Kerala and one pair from Andhra Pradesh.
In his address, Dr Heggade exhorted the newlywed couple to lead a harmonious life in perfect unison.
He said efforts are made to create an awareness among the people to avoid extravagant spending for engagements, mehendi and marriage functions.
Darshan who spoke on the occasion, said he too got married in Dharmasthala and stressed the need for understanding between couple for a happy married life.
