22 young men receive Order of Diconate at St. Joseph’s Seminary

Mangalore, June 11: Five young deacons from Mangalore, two from Calicut, two from Shimoga, one from Kumbla, three from Kannur, and three from Gulbarga, in addition to six Carmelites received the Holy Order of Diconate on June 10, Thursday.

Bishop of Kannur Dr. Varghese Chakkalakal performed the ordination ceremony at St. Joseph’s Seminary. Bishop of Gulbarga Dr. Robert Miranda was also present. Rector Fr. Joseph Martis called out the names of the brothers who were to receive the Order of the Diconate.

The bishop in his homily reminded the newly ordinated deacons of their responsibilities toward society. He called upon the deacons to work as Jesus did for the good of society and to become men of prayer and service.


The new deacons were later felicitated by the seminary. Parents, seminarians, friends, and relatives of the new deacons participated in the ceremony.

The new deacons are Wilson D’Souza, Johny Crasta, Simon Clifford Pinto, Sunil Praveen Pinto, Vishal Melwyn Monis, Anil P. William Mendonca, Aneesh, Konath Shoby, Mavelithayil Jackson, Padikkaparambil Shaiju Peter, Ferndandes Salvador, Vinay Wilbert Lobo, Victor Anil Vas, Arun Wilbert Lobo, Victor Anil Vas, Lawrence D’Souza, Arun Venil D’Silva, Kujur Basil, Elias D’Cunha, Rajesh Madtha, Godwin Arun Pinto, Agnelo Rebello, Ivan Sanctis, and Jason Tellis.
