2nd Certificate course in Forensic Odontology held at ABSM Institute of Dental Sciences

Mangaluru, July 21, 2023: The Forensic Odontology Unit (FOU) of A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences conducted the inaugural program of 2nd Certificate Course in Forensic Odontology held at Avishkar Auditorium on 19.07.2023 at 3.00 PM. Sri Kuldeep Kumar R Jain, Commissioner of Police, Mangalore City was the guest of honour. Prof.(Dr.) U S Krishna Nayak, Dean, ABSMIDS presided over the program.

 

 

 

 

 

The programme was initiated by invoking the Almighty. Dr.Shama led the prayer. The dignitaries were escorted to the dais followed by lamp lighting, Dr.Kumuda Rao-Coordinator (Forensic Odontology Unit) a short introduction to the FOU and welcomed the gathering with floral greetings of the dignitaries. Prof.(Dr.) Pushparaj Shetty introduced the Guest of Honour. Sri Kuldeep Kumar R Jain, Commissioner of Police, addressed the gathering and mentioned the need for such a knowledgeable course and the importance of scientific evidence for conviction of criminals. Prof.(Dr.) Mahabalesh Shetty K spoke on the importance of Forensic Odontology in forensic identification and importance of maintaining dental records.  Prof.(Dr.)U S Krishna Nayak delivered the Presidential address and delivered the memento to the Guest of Honour. The Guest of Honour distributed the Certificates to the participants and Momento to external resource person Prof.(Dr.) Sudheendra Prabhu, In-charge Head Centre for Forensic Odontology, Yenepoya Dental College. Prof.(Dr.) Subhas Babu, Prof.(Dr.)Pushparaj Shetty, Dr.Varsha Shetty were present on the Dais. Dr.Urvashi Shetty delivered the vote of thanks. The programme concluded with the National Anthem. About 250 students of II and III BDS, Interns and faculty members attended the programme.

Sri.Kuldeep Kumar R Jain (IPS), Commissioner of Police then also Inaugurated the Renovated Block of the Library and Information Centre at the institute.
