Mangalore, Dec 20, 2012: Karnataka Nataka Academy, Bangalore in association with Rangayana, Shimoga and Rangamane, Sanskrithika Kala Kendra, Sullia will host a three-day Dakshina Kannada district ‘Natakotsava 2012’ at Rangamane, Oldgate, Sullia from Dec 22 to Dec 25.
Speaking at a press meet convened at Hotel Woodlands on Dec 20, Thursday, Nataka Academy member Sheena Nadoli said amateur as well as professional theatre groups would present their plays as part of the festival.
Apart from it, the event will also include a workshop, musical programmes including theatre songs rendering. Plays like ‘Male Nilluvavarege’ directed by Sadananda Suvarna, ‘Janapada Jataapati’ directed by Mandya Ramesh, ‘Sevanthi Prasanga’ directed by Jayanth Kaikini and ‘Devvana Jaala’ by I K Boluvar will be staged as part of the festival.
Rangayana Director H N Satya will inaugurate the festival, while Academy President Malathi Sudhir will preside over the event.
Theatre artists including Sankappa Rai, Manju Vitla, Mohan Sona, Bhaskar Nelliteertha, Janardhana Gowda, Shantharam Kalladka, K J Kaukrady, H M Kumaraswamy and Mahabala Kalladka will be felicitated on the occasion.
Actor Mandya Ramesh will participate as the chief guest at the valedictory ceremony on Dec 25.
