30 couples tie the knot at RM Group’s all-religion mass marriage ceremony

Sullia, Aug 8: Addressing the gathering at the all-religion marriage organized by RM Group at Bellare, Union Minister of State for Home Mullapalli Ramachandra said that the quiet village of Bellare is today witnessing an all-religion marriage, a model event in the midst of hatred. He also stressed the need to stop all expensive marriages with dowry.  White doves were released to inaugurate the ceremony.

Thirty couples tied the knot at this all-religion wedding ceremony. Mangalore Khazi Shaikuna Twakha Ahammed Musliyar, Adi Chunchanagiri Mutt’s Dharmapalanatha Swamiji, and Rev Fr Santhosh D’Souza blessed the couples.  R M Group provided the couples 8 pawans of gold and Rs 26,000 each.

The highlight of the all-religion marriage ceremony was the wedding of Vishwanath of Moodubelle to a handicapped girl called Kusuma of Avanje. A total of 22 Muslim, 7 Hindu, and one Christian couple tied the knot on that day.

Former CM H. D. Kumaraswamy was supposed to participate in the event, but could not do so because his helicopter could not land in bad weather and he had to go back to Bangalore.  He wished the couples well over phone from Bangalore.
