Belthangady, Oct 24, 2017: Belthangady taluk in Dakshina Kannada is all set to celebrate 50th anniversary of ‘Pattabhisheka’ of Dr D Veerendra Heggade today Oct 24, Tuesday. A number of events have been arranged to mark the anniversary and streets near Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara temple and nearby areas have been decorated. Special poojas are scheduled to be offered to Lord Manjunatha and Bhagwan Chandranatha Swamy.

During the last 50 years, as ‘Dharmadhikari’, Dr Heggade took several initiatives as part of his social service to empower rural economy of the country. Mass marriages, rural development programmes, formation of self help groups and others were some of the milestones achieved by him. He also runs number of educational institutions in the country including schools, colleges and other institutions.
Head of the present Mysuru Royal family Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, orator Dr Gururaj Karjagi Bagalkot, Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai, MLA K Vasanth Bangera and others are expected to take part in an event organised in Dharmasthala to mark the day. Various religious events have also been arranged at Jain temple here.
