Mangalore, Dec 28: The All India Catholic University Federation (AICUF) State-level Convention 2009 was inaugurated today in the Loyola Hall of St. Aloysius College, Mangalore. Rev Dr Bernard Moras, Archbishop of Bangalore inaugurated the event by lighting the traditional lamp.
Prior to the formal inaugural programme, a Eucharistic celebration was organized in the St Aloysius College Chapel in which Archbishop of Bangalore Rev Dr Bernard Moras and Bishop of Mangalore Rev Aloysius Paul D’Souza were the chief celebrants.
Justice Michael Saldanha was the chief guest. He shared his experiences as a member of AICUF. He urged his listeners to ensure that they create some positive changes in themselves at the end of the convention. He encouraged the students to serve society and develop the nation. He said that the AICUF has changed a lot; it has become more helpful toward the needy. He encouraged the students to make the AICUF better than what it was. He also spoke about the necessity of dreaming the impossible, which will help them achieve the impossible and ensure their progress. He said that such a positive attitude will make a glowing difference in society. Young people can make positive changes in society, which will foster peace, he said.
Fr. Francis Almeida, the state advisor of AICUF; Fr. Swebert D’Silva, the principal of St Aloysius College; Prof Manoj Lewis, the state animator; Fr Charles Lasrado, the advisor of the Bangalore region; Alan Prajwal; Milton Peres; and Roydon D’Souza were the dignitaries on the dais.
