Accused Arrested in Belagavi Girl’s Murder Case in Jokatte

Mangaluru, August 7, 2024: The murder case of a 13-year-old girl from Belagavi has taken a dramatic turn in Jokatte. The police have arrested Fakirappa (55), who originally hails from Madar Oni, Hanchinal in Belagavi District and was recently residing in a rented house in Jokatte.

The investigation found that Fakirappa was familiar with the complainant and had been regularly visiting their rental house. On August 6th, he allegedly attempted to sexually assault the girl while she was home alone. When the girl resisted, Fakirappa, enraged by her rejection, murdered her.

The accused had been working as a daily wage laborer in the Jokatte area for the past six months. The girl, a student staying at a hostel in Mangaluru, had come to Jokatte to visit her uncle’s house after injuring her hand, the police added.
