Acid attack case accused acquitted after 29 years

Belthangady, Feb 20, 2024: The Belthangady Court has  acquitted a man accused in an acid attack case, almost 29 years after the incident.

 

The accused Shanker Gowda alias Veerappa Gowda was residing in a rented house belonging to Ganesh Prabhu of Ujire. The wife of the accused used to work in the house of Ganesh Prabhu. However later she was removed from work. Agitated against this the accused had reportedly resorted to the act.

Police had arrested Gowda and produced him before the court. After a hearing that prolonged for several years, the court has now acquitted  Gowda.
