Mangalore, Mar 28: The direct Air India flight from Mangalore to New Delhi was launched by MLA Abhaychandra Jain and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel in the present of Airport Director Abraham Peter on March 28, Sunday. The politicians flagged off Air India Canadian Registered Jet (CRJ) - 700 to New Delhi.
The aircraft, IC 7613, took off from Delhi at 5:15 a.m. and arrived at Mangalore at 8:35 a.m. With a capacity of seating 74 passengers, this aircraft is the fastest in India and gives a noise-free travelling experience, informed Area Marketing Manager of Air India Nagesh Shett. The airfare is Rs 4,800.
Shrinivas Kamath, the president of Kanara Chamber of Commerce, who arrived in the flight from Delhi, said that his dream of flying to Delhi from Mangalore has finally come true. Air India has satisfied a long-felt need, he said.
IC 7613 will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. It will leave Delhi at 5:15 a.m. and will reach Mangalore at 8:35 a.m. It will take off again at 9:05 p.m. and will reach Delhi at 1:15 p.m.
IC 7611 will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. It will leave Delhi at 6:25 a.m. and will reach Mangalore at 10:55 a.m. It will take off again at 11:25 a.m. and will reach Delhi at 2:10 p.m.
