Alcohol sale prohibited in Udupi district during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations

Udupi, September 7, 2024: On the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, to maintain law and order and ensure public peace during the immersion of Ganesh idols, the Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Udupi, Dr. K. Vidyakumari, has issued an order prohibiting the sale of alcohol in Udupi district on September 7.

Additionally, the sale of alcohol will be prohibited in the Udupi City Municipal Corporation limits on September 9 and 11 from 2:00 PM to midnight. This prohibition is enforced under Rule 3 of the Karnataka Excise (Sale of Indian and Foreign Liquors) Rules, 1968, and Section 21 of the Karnataka Excise Act, 1965.
