A formal function was held to inaugurate Amrita Sangama 2011 in the presence of B. R. Bhat, the general manager of Corporation Bank; Dr. B. R. Shetty, the founder and managing director of NMC Group; Dr. Jeevanraj Sorake, the president of Mata Amritanandamayi Seva Samithi; and Vinaykumar Sorake, to mention a few.

Amma told her devotees that they should treat nature with love, remarking that adding poison to the sea and the earth is like poisoning our own blood. In response to a query regarding the end of the world by 2011, Amma said that lack of love, affection, care, and humane values have already begun destroying the earth. She urged people to develop the values of affection and love.

Morning rituals marked the beginning of this 2-day celebration, followed by satsang, darshan, and bhajan programmes with a large number of devotees participating. Sarvajanika anna santharpane will be organized on both days. Just before the satsang with Amma, meditation sessions and Lalita Sahasranama Archana were held.
