Udupi, December  25:  A giant-sized Santa Claus — 16-foot tall and 6-foot wide — created by the Udupi Zilla Nagarika Samiti to mark Christmas celebrations, was taken in a procession in the city on Friday.

About 200kg of iron railings and nearly 150 metres of cloth have been used for making the Santa Claus. This giant-sized Santa Claus will be kept at the Mother of Sorrows Church here till January 1, 2010. It would also be another attraction of the Udupi Utsav, which is already going on in the district.


 


The Zilla Nagarika Samiti had made a 10 feet tall candle during Christmas in 2001. It had made a 30 feet tall candle weighing about 250 kg during Christmas in 2002. The Samiti had built a giant sized star during Christmas in 2003.
