Asian Games: Kundapur girl Ashwini Akkunji qualify for women’s 400m hurdles finals

Incheon, Sep 30, 2014: Kundapur based athlete Ashwini Akkunji has ben qualified for the women’s 400 metres hurdles final at the Asian Games here on Tuesday morning. The 26-year-old Ashwini finishes second in the 400m Hurdles Round 1 Heat.

 

With golds in 2010 Commonwealth Games and another in 4*400m relay event in the 2010 edition of Asian Games, Ashwini has been an experienced runner for the country. Ashwini, is the daughter of Akkunji Chidanandagowda, an arecanut grower of Kundapur. She has battled past doping allegations and a ban to deliver strong performances on the track.
