Auto drivers stage protest against DC’s orders on e-rickshaws

Mangaluru, August 16, 2024: Autorickshaw drivers staged a protest near the Clock Tower on Friday opposing the recent orders of the Deputy Commissioner permitting e-autorickshaws to operate across the district.

The protest was held under the aegis of the DK District Committee of the Federation of Karnataka Autorickshaw Drivers’ Union. The protestors said the DC’s order was unscientific and that it must be withdrawn.

The protestors said the policy of the district administration has given room for a clash among auto drivers and demanded that the Union Government must enforce guidelines for e-rickshaws.

CITU State Vice President Vasanth Achar, Autorickshaw Union President Ashok Shetty and many others addressed the protestors.
