Automatic time gate, photo finish result system to be introduced in Kambala

Mangaluru, Feb 01, 2024: The District Kambala Samithi has decided to introduce automatic time gate and photo finish result system  on a trial basis to ensure professionalism in the sport of Kambala and to reduce delays.

The new system will be implemented in the Kanthabare-Budabare Kambala to be held at Aikala on February 3. The technology is developed by Ratnaker Naik Karkala from Innovation Beyond Imagination Next Gen Pvt Limited.  The Adani Foundation has provided a funding of Rs 10 lakh for the development of the technology, said Deviprasad Shetty Belapu, President of the District Kambala Samithi.

He said under the new system, the buffalo handles get 5 or 10 minutes to begin the race and if they fail to do so, then the referee will decide on the next step.

Adani Group Executive Director Kishore Alva handed over a cheque of Rs 10 lakh to Shetty on the occasion.
