Mangaluru, Sep 12, 2022: Senior Congress leader and former minister B Ramanatha Rai has accused the state government of again offending the great saint philosopher Brahmashree Narayana Guru.
He was speaking to reporters at the party office here on September 12, Monday. "The state government has already offended Brahmashree Narayana Guru several times. Now, by restricting the birth anniversary of the saint philosopher to the district, it has again offended him," Rai alleged.
"The birth anniversary of the great saint philosopher ought to have been celebrated at the capital in the presence of the Chief Minister. However, he is busy with Janaspandana and has even not shown the courtesy of mentioning Brahmashree Narayana Guru on his birth anniversary," Rai resented.
During the Chief Ministership of Siddaramaiah, Shree Narayana Guru Jayanthi was celebrated in the presence of the Chief Minister. However Yediyurappa and Bommai have refrained from participating in the celebrations during their terms, he said.
On the comments regarding the T-Shirt of Rahul Gandhi, Rai said though Rahul comes from an affluent family, he has never described himself as Chowkidar or Fakir, However those who claim themselves as so wear attires worth lakhs of rupees, Rai said.
Party leaders Ibrahim Kodijal, Shashidhar Hegde, T K Sudhir, Pratibha Kulai and others were present.
