MLA Ramanath Rai, who is also the president of the District Congress Committee (DCC), said that the BJP played all sorts of foul tricks to ensure its victory, adding that the performance of the Congress party is worth appreciating at this critical juncture.

He also said that thousands of voters, especially those belonging to minority communities, were not permitted to cast their votes because of the manipulations of concerned officers these ZP/TP polls. He accused these officers of deleting thousands of legitimate voters belonging to the minority communities from the voters’ lists, which he termed a disgrace to the state’s democratic set up. According to Mr. Rai, this is the reason for the BJP’s victory.

Nearly 20 – 30 percent of the voters’ list was thus deleted from each voting centre, he alleged. In spite of this, the Congress has been victorious, having foiled the BJP’s strategies in several parts of the district, he added.
