Udupi, Jan 21, 2012 : The annual festival of Kachchoor Shri Maltidevi Babbuswamy Temple near Barkur will be held on Jan 19 – 22, in connection with which various development projects and meetings are being inaugurated.
On Jan 21 Satuday, a number of cultural events will be held, after which D. V. Sadananda Gowda, the chief minister of Karnataka, will inaugurate the temple hall. The meeting, which is to be held next, will be inaugurated by B. S. Yeddyurappa, the former chief minister of Karnataka.
A total of Rs. 1.75 crore has been spent on constructing this temple hall, which has a seating capacity of 1000 and dining facilities for 600 people. A spacious parking lot also forms part of it.
MLA K. Raghupathi Bhat, who is also the president of the reception committee, will inaugurate the Bailakere Portico of the temple. MLA Halady Shrinivas Shetty will inaugurate the newly constructed arch.
G. Parameshwar, the president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), will release the emblem of Shri Maltidevi Educational and Cultural Trust. Krishna J. Palemar, the district-in-charge minister, will inaugurate the Vasantha Mantap while Praveen Anchan, the mayor of Mangalore, will inaugurate the Bailakere tank.
A number of people’s representatives, temple gurkars, and entrepreneurs from several districts will participate in the event.
A hore kanike comprising provisions, vegetables, and others was taken to the temple from Jodukatte on Jan 19. A number of religious rituals were held in the temple on Thursday.
