Bajpe cops arrest chain snatcher

Mangaluru, December 18, 2024: Bajpe police have arrested a man wanted in the connection with the snatching of a gold chain of a woman on the pretext of enquiring regarding an address.

The arrested man is Abdul Ravoof alias Auto Ravoof (30) of Haleyangady. On December 12, he had stopped his scooter near a woman who was walking on the roadside at Thenka Edapadavu village and snatched her gold chain after enquiring about an address.

Bajpe police who had formed a special team to nab the accused have arrested him and seized a gold chain worth Rs 70,000, a scooter and an autorickshaw from the accused.

He has been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody. The arrested man has as many as ten cases against him in various police stations and was released on bail just two months ago. It is learnt, he had purchased an autorickshaw using the money he got after selling a stolen chain.
