Bantwal: Officials raid illegal sand mining area; seize 20 boats

Bantwal, October 5, 2024: A team of officials from the Department of Revenue and Mines raided a place near Thumbay and Maripalla on the banks of river Netravathi on Friday and seized as many as 20 boats involved in illegal sand extraction.

The raid followed a directive from the Deputy Commissioner. None of the seized boats had sand in them. However those working in the area had fled during the operation.

Mines Department Deputy Director Krishnaveni, Revenue Inspector Janardhan and others were part of the operation.
