Belthangady: Thousands of fish perish in Somavathi river; poisoning suspected

Mangaluru, April 27, 2023: Thousands of fish have perished in Somavathi River which is the main source of drinking water to Belthangady town. It is suspected that some miscreants might have poisoned the river water.

 

Every day nearly 10 lakh litres of water from Somavathi river is supplied to the town. However after thousands of fish have been found dead in the river and following fears of poisoning, water supply has been presently suspended.
