Belthangady police arrest inter-state gang of thieves

Mangalore, Dec 14, 2012: The Belthangady and Punjalakatte Police have arrested four notorious thieves hailing from Madhya Pradesh, who were wanted in connection with several cases of thefts and looting in various parts of the nation.


Another person who used to purchase the stolen valuables from the thieves has also been arrested. The police have seized 13.5 Kgs of silver articles, worth about Rs 13 lakhs from them.

Addressing a press meet at the SP office on December 14,Friday, District Superintendent of Police Abhishek Goyal said the arrests took place  on December 1 when the Punjalakatte Sub-inspector of Police and Belthangady Circle Inspector were on patrol duty  near Sonandur, Sabarbail. He said the accused tried to flee on seeing the cops, but were given a chase and rounded up.


Four were arrested while one managed to flee, the SP informed. The arrested have divulged that they were involved in looting of people during night time by throwing chilli powder on their faces,the SP said.


The arrested are identified as Amar Singh alias Amzad (28), Son of Late Sher Singh Mahakali Pura, Bagh Anche MP, Sardar (20) son of Ratan Singh, MP, Madan (32) son of Juvan Singh, MP, Bahubali (50) son of Kalu, MP. One Vijaya Vijaya Kumar Soni alias Munna, the buyer has also been arrested. Another accused Ban Singh is absconding.
