Karkala, Sept 18, 2016: The CID investigations into the sensational businessman Bhasker Shetty murder case, has picked up. The CID team has taken Niranjan Bhat, priest and self-proclaimed astrologer, one of the main accused in the case, to his residence at Nandalike and interrogated him near the Homa Kunda i where Bhasker Shetty’s body was reportedly consigned to flames. The CID team was at the spot for over an hour and had taken all precautions to keep the media away.
The CID team also took Niranjan to the Kuntadi Kalyaru and Epedakyaru rivulets where the remains of Shetty were reportedly disposed.
CID custody extended: In another development, the CID police who had taken Bhat to custody on September 15 had sought five more days of custody on Saturday. The court however has permitted two days of custody after the advocate for the accused opposed the same and said his counsel had high blood sugar.Later the court granted two days of CID custody and also directed that the accused be provided suitable medical treatment in case any health issue crops up.
In the meantime though the civil court in Mangaluru had rejected the bail application of Niranjan’s father Srinivas Bhat and driver Raghavendra who are accused of trying to destroy evidences, the bail application has been moved once again. This time the judge has given time upto September 24 to file objections if any to the bail application.
