Mangaluru, May 29, 2018: Water logging at Alake in Kudroli area of Mangaluru has become so grave that  boats were used to ferry stranded people including school children.

Students of Alake Gujarati School too had a tough  time as they could not get out of their school building due to water logging.Fire service personnel and members of the general public assisted the children

Heavy rains that have been lashing various parts of the city and its outskirts since Tuesday morning has caused artificial floods in Baikampady Industrial Area. Water has entered several factories resulting in huge losses.

Some factory owners  have said that  this was the first time   that the situation has turned so grave  in the past several years.

The failure of the authorities to clear up clogged side drains and to take sufficient precautionary measures  after raising the heights of the road during  concretisation has led to the present problem, opined many people.
