Brinda Karat demands formation of SIT to probe Vinayak Baliga murder case

Mangaluru, Mar 21, 2022: CPM leader and former MP Brinda Karat has demanded the constitution of an SIT to investigate into the RTI activist Vinayak Baliga murder case.

Brinda Karat who is in the city to participate in a Sauharda Samavesh organised by CPM, visited the residence of Vinayak Baliga and consoled his family members on March 21, Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Brinda said the probe has not been satisfactory even six years after the murder and the family is still fighting for justice. The accused are enjoying the patronage of the ruling party and therefore there is a need to constitute an SIT for an impartial probe and to trace all the accused, she said.

She also assured the sisters of late Baliga that the CPM was with them in their fight for justice.

Rationalist Prof Narendra Nayak, CPM leaders K Neela, K Prakash, Gurushanth, DYFI State President Muneer Katipalla, Advocate Asha Nayak, CPM District Secretary Yadav Shetty and others were present.
