Brother of Chota Rajan aide arrested in 2005 Permude assault case

Mangaluru, Jul 15, 2021: Bajpe police have arrested a man wanted in an assault and threatening case reported from Permude village 16 years ago. The accused identified as Chandrakanth Poojary alias Annu  was arrested in Mumbai. He hails from Mulki and is the brother of Vasudeva alias Vamana, an accomplice of underworld don Chota Rajan. Vasudeva was killed in an encounter in 2004.

On January 10, 2005, assailants had barged into the house of Vishwanath Amin in Permude and had abused the family members apart from attacking Amin with a bottle and then threatening him. A complaint was lodged at Bajpe police station in this regard.

Though the then Bajpe SI Dharmendra had arrested an accused Yogish,  Chandrakanth had  remained absconding.

Recently, police on getting a tip off that he was in Mumbai and was  selling vegetables at Andheri,  managed to apprehend him.
