CCB Cops arrest Nigerian citizen; seize MDMA worth Rs 6 cr

Mangaluru, October 8, 2024: In a major drugs haul, the CCB police of Mangaluru have arrested a Nigerian national residing in Bengaluru and seized 6.310 kg MDMA from him. The seized contraband is valued at Rs 6 crores.

The arrest was made based on the revelation made by a man from Chembugudde, Hyder Ali (51) who was arrested at a lodge near Pumpwell on September 29 on the charges of drugs peddling. Police had seized 15 grams MDMA worth Rs 75000 from him. During interrogation, Ali had revealed the names of drugs suppliers and this led to the arrest of Peter Ikedi Belonwu from Bengaluru.

His rented residence at Dommasandra was raided and the MDMA was seized. Apart from the contraband, police seized 35 ATM cards/debit cards, 17 inactive SIM cards, 10 bank account pass books and a digital weighing scale.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of City Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal under the leadership of DCPs Siddarth Goyal (Law and Order) and BP Dinesh (Crime and Traffic).
