CM Yeddyurappa lays foundation stone for new Lady Goschen Hospital

Mangalore, April 16: CM B. S. Yeddyurappa laid the foundation stone for the new building of Lady Goschen Hospital on April 16, Saturday.

 

 

 

 

 

Presiding over the event, N. Yogish Bhat, the MLA of Mangalore South and deputy speaker of the assembly, said that infant mortality rates and death rates of women delivering babies is lesser in the DK than in other districts. He also said that Raghava Naidu, an entrepreneur, has given Rs. 18 crore for the construction of this hospital in the name of K. R. Keerthi Foundation Trust and that the state government has sanctioned Rs. 2 crore for the maintenance of this hospital. He also spoke in appreciation of Mr. Naidu, who also donated Rs. 1.5 crore to renovate the Shri Venkataswamy High School in Bantwal.


Stating that he is now looking for another donor to provide funds to introduce modern medical facilities in Wenlock Hospital, he said that the roads, water facility, electricity facility, and hospitals have seen great development after the BJP came to power.

 

 

 

 

 


Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that Lady Goschen Hospital will be the biggest hospital in the district. Speaking in appreciation of Mr. Naidu, he said that the entrepreneur is trying to forget the pain of losing his daughter owing to lack of medical treatment by providing medical facilities for innumerable people. He urged entrepreneurs to follow in the footsteps of Mr. Naidu.


The CM later felicitated Raghava Naidu and his wife with shawls, fruits, and mementos. Mr. Naidu, an entrepreneur based in Andhra Pradesh, is funding the hospital through his N. R. Keerthi Foundation Trust, established in memory of his late daughter K. R. Keerthi.


The construction of the hospital will require Rs. 18 crore and when it is complete, the hospital will have the capacity for 500 beds. Moreover, the hospital will be equipped with the latest technology and facilities. The project will take one year to reach completion.


The new hospital will have a well-equipped laboratory with experienced staff, a blood bank, an intensive care unit, an operation theatre, a delivery room, general and special wards, store rooms for medicines, a pharmacy, well-equipped class rooms, staff rooms, and so on. The hospital will also have a sophisticated drainage system and round-the-clock electricity supply with soundless generator.

Nagaraj Shetty, Mayor Praveen Anchan, Deputy Mayor Geetha Nayak, MCC Commissioner Dr. K. N. Vijayaprakash, DC Subodh Yadav, Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, and many others were present.
