CM promises sea wave breaker technology for Battapady

Mangaluru, July 13, 2022: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on July 12, Saturday night visited the sea-erosion affected areas of Battapady in Ullal, amid rains.

Later, speaking to reporters, he said  measures would be taken to implement Sea Waves Breaker Technology, which is a new technology, in Battapady.

Stating that sea erosion has claimed 600 meters of shoreline in Ullal this time, he said  Sea Wave Breakers will be installed upto a distance of one km in Battapady.

He said there is allegation that the  sea erosion prevention works done in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada was not proper. He said  temporary measures would be taken in cases where road connection has been cut off due to sea erosion.

The CM said he inspected the rain damages caused in the district and also visited houses in Sullia which were affected by the recent tremors.  Experts have been asked to conduct a study and based on their suggestions action will be taken, the CM added.

State Revenue Minister R Ashok, Backward Classes Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, Minister for Fisheries and Port S Angara, MLA  U T Khader, Deputy Commissioner Dr Rajendra K V, City Police Commissioner Shashi Kumar, ZP CEO Dr Kumar and officials were present.
