Mangaluru, Aug 25, 2021: The century old Mangaluru North Police Station, popularly called as Bunder police station is now donning a new look, thanks to the erstwhile inspector Govindaraju who had served here for nearly two years.
With assistance from locals, Govindaraju was instrumental in getting the building renovated at a cost of around Rs 8 lakhs. City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar visited the station and expressed pleasure over the new look of the station. He was also equally surprised to know about the history of the station building which was built in 1889 on a 0.67 acre land at a cost of Rs 1600. With the famous Mangaluru roof tiles, the building has retained his heritage look.
