CPIM leader Muneer Katipalla unveiled the ‘Citizen Charge Sheet’ and criticized the BJP-led MCC for failing to fulfill its electoral promises.

"Five years ago, when the BJP took control of the Mangaluru City Corporation, they assured the public of corruption-free governance, tax relief, and efficient administration. However, instead of honoring these commitments, the MCC has been embroiled in scams, corruption, increased self-assessment property tax, and the privatization of the drinking water project under the Jalasiri scheme. We have outlined 16 key issues in the Citizen Charge Sheet, which will be presented to the civil court," said Muneer Katipalla.

He further expressed disappointment over the silence of the opposition Congress, stating, "While the opposition failed to raise its voice, the civic committee has diligently investigated and documented the irregularities of the BJP’s five-year tenure at MCC."

He also alleged that MCC had misused loans taken from the Asian Development Bank and adopted policies detrimental to public interest. "No one is questioning the mismanagement of smart city funds or the TDR scam, which benefits real estate firms. Despite promises, not a single housing project has been initiated for the underprivileged. Faulty UGD works, substandard concrete constructions, disregard for the poor, and the eviction of street vendors are all included in the 16 points of the Citizen Charge Sheet," he stated.
