Civic polls: Voting begins in city

Mangalore, March 7, 2013: The voting for the 60 wards in the Mangalore City Corporation limits as well as for the six other local administrative bodies in the district, commenced at 7 am on March 7.

A total of 677 candidates including 243 candidates contesting for the Mangalore City Corporation elections, are in the fray in the elections being even for the local bodies of Ullal, Bantwal, Moodbidri, Puttur, Belthangady and Sullia.

 

In Bantwal, senior Congress leader was also seen standing in a queue to exercise his franchise. The voting began on a slow note is expected to pick up  very soon.

Security arrangements have been tightened all over the city as well as at places where elections are held.
