Mangalore, August 5, 2012: Speaking at a condolence meeting organized by the district Congress in Town Hall on August 5, Sunday, to pay respects to the late Bondala Jagannath Shetty, leader of the Youth Congress, Byre Gowda, president of the state Youth Congress, said that the late Mr. Shetty was a fearless leader who faced all challenges with courage and tackled them perfectly.
Further speaking about the virtues of Mr. Shetty, he said that the late leader was optimistic and never hesitating taking up the responsibility of preparing a team of strong young people for the Congress party. He was also against those who tried to mix religion with politics and unconstitutional forces.
He also said that Mr. Shetty initiated a number of welfare projects even after losing the last elections from Puttur constituency. His memories will remain forever and he will be like a beacon for the youth of the coastal region, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Janardhan Poojary, Congress leader, said that Bondala Jagannath Shetty, who was known for his selfless service toward society, had also built a school. Stating that he was an able leader of the Youth Congress, he appreciated the Youth Congress for organizing an annual program in honor of late Mr. Shetty.
MLA Ramanath Rai said that Mr. Shetty was always in favor of social harmony and harbored secular ideals.
Ivan D’Souza, KPCC secretary, said that a memorial will soon be built in honor of Mr. Shetty.
Congress leaders and workers paid floral tributes to the portrait of Bondala Jagannath Shetty. Mayor Gulzar Banu, Corporator Nagendra Kumar, Shashidhar Hegde, Suresh Ballal, Sudhir T. K., Mamatha Gatty, and others were also present.
