Mangalore, May 27: “The leadership of Nehru transcended caste, creed, and religion to secure independence for the nation and to work for its development,” remarked MLA Ramanath Rai after lighting the lamp in front of the portrait of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his 46th death anniversary. He stressed that India could achieve independence only because of the sacrifice of Nehru.
Condemning the tricks of the Sangh Parivar, Rai said that people such as Chakravarthy Sulibele are invited to temples and requested to speak in favour of Hinduism only in India, labeling this as a “trick of the Sangh Parivar.”
Congress leader M. G. Hegde said that Chakravarthy Sulibele is that author of several articles published in newspapers. Although he conducts programmes such as “Jaagho Bharath,” nobody knows how much he charges for these programmes in the name of patriotism, he said.
Condemning programmes such as “Jaago Bharath” for being a lucrative business, he said that if the doings of Sulibele are caught on hidden camera, he will not be able to walk in public. Though represented as a cultural leader, Sulibele does nothing but sow poisonous seed among innocent people, he criticized.
Sadashiv Ullal, Padmanabha Bhandary, Shashidhar Hegde, Farooq Ullal, Naveen D’Souza, Ashok T. K., and Ashraf were present during the occasion.
