Congress leader Bondala Jagannath Shetty dies in road accident

Puttur, Aug 1, 2012 : Bondala Jagannath Shetty (38), Congress leader from Bantwal – Puttur, died on the spot when his Fortuner SUV dashed into a gas tanker at Panemangalore on July 31, Tuesday, late at night.

 

 

 

Mr. Shetty had served as the president of the DK District Youth Congress from 2001 to 2009. He was immensely popular not only in Puttur, but also in DK for his social welfare activities. He lost the 2008 assembly elections to BJP’s Dr. Mallika Prasad by 1,500 votes.

He was appointed as the general secretary of the Karnataka Youth Congress Committee and as the general secretary of the Karnataka State Youth INTUC in 1999. In 2000, he served as the convener of the KSRTC Employees Union (INTUC) Mangalore Division and then became the president of the DK Youth Congress in 2001.
