Cop among 5 injured in collision between 2 cars at Katapady junction

Udupi, July 17, 2024: A police man and four passengers of a car sustained injuries in an accident involving two cars near Katapady Junction on the Mangaluru-Udupi NH 66 on Wednesday morning.

The police had stopped a car in which Harish Narayan Poojary was heading towards Padubidri from Udyavar. At the same juncture, a Swift car which was behind rammed into Harish’s car. The impact of the collision was such that Harish’s car literally mowed down the police officer Rama who sustained serious head injuries and has been rushed to the hospital.

Negligent driving by Sushanth, the driver of the Swift car, is said to be the cause of the mishap. Sushanth, Vishnu, Ashika and Harshi have sustained minor injuries.
