Crime Prevention Month comes to an end

Mangalore, Jan 7: The valedictory ceremony of the Crime Prevention Month, which was organized by the Mangalore Police Commissionerate in association with the criminology department of Roshni Nilaya School of Social Work, was held on the college premises on Jan 7, Friday. Prof. T. Shivashankar Murthy, the vice chancellor of Mangalore University, was the chief guest of the event.

In his address, Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said that crime will last as long as human beings do, adding that it is the duty of every citizen to control crime by organizing a number of crime prevention workshops. Stating that the public believe that it is the duty of the police to control crime, he urged the public to remember that even the police are human beings and need the help of the public to control crime. He also urged the public to correct the police when they go wrong. He said that he will give a copy of this programme to the IGP and DGP so that such programmes can be held in other places too.

Speaking in appreciation of the intelligence of the citizens of Mangalore and the high rate of education in the city, he said that the public must collaborate with the police to control crime.

Principal Dr. Jacintha D’Souza, Head of the Department of Criminology Dr. Ashoka, DCP R. Ramesh, and DCP Muthuraya were also present.
