Curiosity leads to tragedy: Elderly woman falls into well in Uppinangady

Uppinangady, July 27, 2024: An elderly woman accidentally fell into an open well without a protective wall and died in a tragic incident that occurred on Friday in Nooji.

The deceased woman has been identified as Honnamma (65). She went missing on the evening of July 26th. While her family was searching for her, they found her umbrella near an unprotected well on their property. Her body was discovered floating in the well.

It is known that Honnamma had a habit of peering into wells out of curiosity to see the water level. It is suspected that while indulging in this habit yesterday, when no one was home, she might have accidentally slipped and fallen into the well.

Adekkal Santu and local youth helped recover her body from the well.

Honnamma’s son, Umesh Mugera, has lodged a complaint with the Uppinangady police regarding the incident.
