DC orders stern action against illegal sand mining in Pavoor UIiya

Mangaluru, September 27, 2024: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan has instructed the Assistant Commissioner and officials of the Police and Mines Department to initiate strict action against the illegal sand extraction underway at Pavoor Uliya.

Already a six member investigation committee has been formed under the leadership of the Assistant Commissioner. As per the report of the committee boats involved in illegal sand extraction must be seized. Anyone found stocking sand illegally in their land must face action, small trenches must be laid to prevent sand smuggling vehicles moving from river bank areas, the DC has said.

The DC has further warned of disciplinary action if illegal sand mining continued even after his stern orders.
