DCIB Police Arrests a Man for Stealing Valuables of Air Crash Victims

sattarMangalore, June 02:  The cops of District Crime Intelligence Bureau, led by Venkatesh Prasanna, circle-inspector of police, have arrested a person for stealing valuables of Mangalore air crash victims. The arrests were made on May 31.
 

The arrested has been identified as Sattar (23), a resident of Haleneeru house near Kuppepadav School.
 

According to DCIB police, Sattar, a city bus driver on Bajpe route, Althaf, a resident of Maravoor, and Irshad alias Baddumunde, an auto rickshaw driver from Jokatte have secretly stolen gold items from the place of air crash that occurred at Kenjar on May 22. They were acting as rescuers at the time of air crash and have stolen the jewellery items while shifting the charred bodies of air crash victims to the hospital. After snatching gold items from the spot, they took it to home and hidden it in cock shed.


Later, he planned to sell some of the jewellery items. On May 31, he was moving in Santro car near Central market for selling the gold items. Acting on a tip off, the DCIB police team led by an inspector, has arrested Sattar near central market and confiscated 256.900 grams of stolen gold of worth Rs. 6, 36, 700.


The preliminary investigation has revealed that a small quantum of gold items have been taken for selling. He had kept remaining 126.500 gram gold items at his home. Based on that, DCIB police have visited his home and recovered 126.500 gram gold from cock shed.


The DCIB have handed over Sattar to Bajpe police station In-charge ASI Sudhakaran for further investigation. His accomplices Altaf and Irshad are absconding and the police have launched a manhunt for them.
