Mangaluru, May 24, 2022: As every year, the Fisheries Department has issued an order banning deep sea fishing off the coast for 61 days from June 1 to July 31.
During this period, boats with inboard or outboard engines above 10 HP capacity are not allowed to venture into fishing.
Fishing boats with motorised engines upto 10 HP and traditional as well as country boats are allowed to undertake fishing subject to adherence to guidelines and any violation would disqualify them from availing diesel subsidy for one year, in accordance to Karnataka Sea Fishing Act 1986, a release from the Fisheries Joint Director said.
