Mangalore, June 11: Mr. K. G. Shenoy, a businessman based in Dubai, has adopted 3 lion cubs born to the Asiatic lion couple Siri and Narasimha at Pilikula Nisarga Dhama on Wednesday. The 3 cubs were also named on the same day as Bharat, Victoria, and Sara.
Mr. Jayaprakash, the wildlife warden of Pilikula Nisarga Dhama, said that the 3 cubs were born 3 months ago. Now, they are very playful and live in the lion enclosure with their parents. Mr. Shenoy has generously given an adoption fee of Rs 4 lakhs, said Mr. Bhandary.
Meanwhile, a baby elephant also born 3 months ago is waiting for someone to adopt him. Some people have already made enquiries, but the concerned authorities have to select them.
Expressing pleasure at the success of the animal adoption drive, Mr. Bhandary said that most of the animals have already been adopted and that more people are enquiring about adopting other animals.
Mr. N. G. Mohan, a local wildlife enthusiast, former Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University Prof. K. M. Kaveriappa, and many others were present at the adoption ceremony on Wednesday.
