Dubai-registered Dodge cars seized in Manipal

Mangaluru, March 3, 2025: Following complaints about ’posh Dodge cars’ being driven recklessly with defective horns on Rajatadri road in Manipal, police seized three ’Dubai-registered’ Dodge cars and released them after verification of documents on Friday.

During the investigation, Manipal police found that the Dodge cars were owned by three youth from Kerala who were settled in the Middle East. Three months ago, the owners of Dodge cars had completed the necessary declarations through CarNet in Cochin after shipping the cars. The youth ha
d received permission to use the cars in India until January 2026.


Dubai registered car


They had travelled through Goa and Mumbai. They were planning to travel to Kerala via Mangaluru when locals informed the police about the excessive noise in Manipal. After the seizure of the cars, a letter was sent to the RTO Udupi for verification of documents related to these Dubai-registered cars. After verification, the RTO Udupi confirmed that all documents were legally valid.

Subsequently, Manipal police slapped a fine of Rs 1,500 per vehicle for reckless driving and using defective horns, stated a press release from Udupi Superintendent of Police Dr K Arun.
