DyCM D K Shivakumar Assures Protestors of Fair Enquiry into Brahmavar Sugar Factory Scam

Udupi, March 2, 2025: Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar visited the protest site at Brahmavar Sugar Factory on Sunday, March 2, where the Udupi Zilla Raitha Sangha, led by former Speaker Prathapchandra Shetty, has been staging an indefinite strike demanding a fair probe into the factory’s scrap sale scam.

Shivakumar received a memorandum from the protestors, with demands presented by Prathapchandra Shetty and former MP Jayaprakash Hegde. Addressing the gathering, Shivakumar assured, “The government has already sanctioned an enquiry. I will personally discuss the issue with the Chief Minister and Home Minister and chair a meeting to ensure justice. The law is equal for all, and the home and cooperation departments will issue a written statement soon.”

The DyCM urged the protestors to consider ending the strike, emphasizing the government’s commitment to resolving the issue.

Prominent attendees included KPCC Campaign Committee president Vinay Kumar Sorake, Udupi Deputy Commissioner Dr Vidyakumari, and Congress leaders Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, Prasadraj Kanchan, Muniyal Udaykumar Shetty and M.A. Gaffur.
