Eight persons arrested in connection with suspected illegal weapon transportation

Mangalore, December 24: In a joint operation, Mangalore police and Coastal Security Police Force arrested eight persons in connection with illegal weapons transportation in a boat named M S V Al_Jazeera from Kalpeni in Lakshwadeep to Mangalore on Friday, December 24.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Mangalore town police who rushed to the spot along with coastal security force arrested eight persons. Out of eight culprits four are from Jamnagar, Gujarat and three from Lakshwadeep and one from Kerala. The arrested persons have been identified as A K Nasir, Kunhi Mohammed, Latheef, Abbas Kareem, Mohammed Haneef, Ayub Ahmed and Salem Mohammed.


However, Mangalore City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh has said that Mangalore town police have conducted a search operation at the Port after receiving intelligence information.  He has denied any arrest made by them. The police did not find illegal weapon or explosives as expected from the boat.

Further investigation is on.
