Moodbidri, Dec 19, 2018: The prestigious Alva’s Virasat 2019 Award will be conferred on eminent playback singer Padma Shree Hariharan who is also known for his talent in fusion music.
Informing this to reporters here on December 19, Alva’s Education Foundation Chairman Dr M Mohan Alva said the Award will be presented during the Alva’s Virasat to be held at Moodbidri from January 4 to 6 next year.
Hariharan whose original name is Anantha Subramani has to his credit the Colonial Cousins Albums with renowned singer and director Leslie Levin. Hailing from Tiruvananthapuram, Hariharan has brought out over 30 Gazal albums. He was conferred the Padma Shree in 2004.
He has bagged national award for his song "Mere Dushman Mere Bhai" from the film ’Border’ and for the Marathi song " Jeev Rangla" from the film ’Jogwa.’
Dr. Padmanabha Shenoy, PRO of Alva’s Foundation was also present at the press meet.
