Former Bishop Rev. Basil Salvadore D’Souza remembered on 25th death anniversary

Mangaluru, Sep 09, 2021: A  commemorative programme was held at the Rosario Cathedral  here on September 9, Thursday on the occasion of the 25th death anniversary  of former Bishop of Mangaluru Diocese Rev Basil Salvadore D’Souza.

Presiding over the function, Rev Fr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangaluru Diocese said  those who have made valuable contributions to the society will forever remain etched in public minds.

Late Rev Basil Salvadore D’Souza  had ably led the Mangaluru Diocese for 31 years from 1965 to 1996 when the Diocese covered  Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kasargod districts. Several new churches, educational institutions, service organisations were started during his tenure and we are reaping its benefits now, the Bishop said.

Past Bishop Rev Aloysius Paul D’Souza delivered the homily. Prayer was offered near the tomb of Late Basil D’Souza at the cathedral.

Udupi Bishop Rev Gerald Isaac Lobo and  several religious heads were present.
